EGTN Trip Day 1 – And We’re Off!

Well I’m writing this post and you are reading it, so Max and I clearly made it safely following the first leg of our journey.  We are currently sitting outside of the train station in Geneva, Switzerland grabbing a coffee as we do our best to stay awake in order to acclimate to the time change as fast as possible.  An early night tonight with a decent amount of sleep should do it!

I should probably start with a quick aside to those reading my little trip reports for the first time.  To begin, welcome to Exo! I hope you are loving working here as much as I/we all do. My hope with these reports is that everyone feels more a part of EGTN operations as the network is truly a team effort.  The EGTN does not function at its current capacity and quality without everyone’s contribution. If you ever have any questions about what we are doing or what is going on please feel free to contact me and I can will be happy to provide additional feedback.

Our travel today was smooth, minus the 2017-03-15 04:00 PDT alarm. The first leg of our journey took us through Newark, which was slightly worrisome due to the snowstorm earlier this week.  While there was definitely more snow on the ground than usual, there was no delay to our flight out to Geneva.  Here is a shot of the tarmac at Newark:

With an on-time (2017-03-16 06:25 UTC+1) arrival in Geneva, Max and I grabbed all of the bags, rental car and headed to the hotel.  Here is the loot we are lugging around on this trip:

Following hotel check-in, we headed out on some aimless wandering around Geneva. As we have been here before, we tried to explore some new areas around the lake.  We stumbled upon the Science Museum and played around with the variety of sun-dials and other hands-on exhibits outside. We continued to wander, grabbed lunch and are now taking a work break before grabbing dinner tonight in preparation for our drive to France tomorrow.  (We fly to Geneva as it is closer to our observatory in France compared to another major French airport.)

A minimum 4-hour drive ahead of us tomorrow, so we’ll talk to you from France then! I’ll leave you below with some pictures I took as we were wandering around today.]
